Problem:
Pixy can not start because of missing internet connection.

Solution:
Pixy is a service where the images are not rendered on the device itself. Therefore the application needs to be able to contact the DirectSmile Online Server to personalize your images. Please establish any of the possible Edge 3G or WiFi internet connections and you are ready to go! 



Problem:
It looks like I have a working internet connection (3G, Edge or Wifi symbols are shown in the title bar) but Pixy still starts with an error message.

Solution:
Please check if you can really access the internet - eg. search for something new in Google. If your search works, Pixy should work as well.



Problem:
Pixy encounters an internal error at the start.

Solution:
Some hotels or WiFi spots redirect your internet requests to their log-on page or a redirect page. Then Pixy is not able to gather its data correctly. This may disappear after you logged into the hotspot with the browser before. However, some hotspots are showing a redirect page before every http request. In these networks Pixy can not operate properly - please switch to 3G or Edge connection instead.

 

Problem:
Pixy shows only grey frames in the selector wheel.

Solution:
You may be connected with a very slow bandwidth. Then Pixy will need some time to initially download the selector images. Please do not get nervous and scroll around too much - this will only worsen the situation. After a while the images should have been loaded. Pixy will cache all downloaded images so, even with a slow connection, you will have a fast experience after all selector images have been downloaded once. It´s best when you start the application first with a fast WiFi connection - then all selector images get downloaded fast and will be cached for the time you use your application next.

 

Problem:
The E-mail was not received.

Solution:
There are several reasons why an e-mail is not going through. Believe it or not, the number 1 reason is a wrong e-mail receiver or sender address!
To avoid wrong e-mail addresses we encourage the use of the address book functionality instead of manually typing.
The second reason might be that the receivers mailbox is full/killed/not active or your e-mail was filtered out by a spam filter. There are just too many different mechanisms in e-mail filters to give an easy answer on how to get around this. If you have not entered any body text in your mail you might get filtered out because you are just sending an image and image spam was very popular some time ago. Try to enter some text, or even better, you ask the receiver to classify your e-mail address as trusted in his e-mail application (The same might apply to your copy e-mail).

Please make sure that you have entered your! valid eMail address in the startup settings of Pixy, otherwise no server will accept your mail! If you need to correct or check this go to the iPhone or iPod Settings App and scroll down to Pixy.
